Cyberpunk futures are never fun or silly. They're always fundamentally messed up and the stories tend to revolve around class warfare. None of those things are bad, and are all general tropes often associated with science fiction. The issue with cyberpunk is that it's so close to our time in many ways.
Technology has changed so much since the beginning of the cyberpunk genre in the mid 20th century. Plugging a wire into something to hack it seems silly when everything is wireless.
