Food That's Fast But Not From a Fast Food Restaurant

I just can't with America's fast food obsession. Why are there so many of these franchises? You can't drive a block without seeing one. Look, I have kids. I get it. A lot of it is convenience.
Hit up your local grocery store. We're on the West Coast, so we have Ralph's, Von's, Gelson's and of course, wonderful glorious Whole Foods. All of these stores have fresh salad bars and some of them have hot bars, soups and full-service delis. Whole Foods also has a poke bar, fresh pizzas premade or prepped to order, and sushi.
Subway and similarly, Jersey Mike's, and Jimmy John's are the healthiest options if you must do fast food. Chipotle is also not too bad either, with beans, rice and veggies.
Grocery stores also have a million pre-made foods. Trader Joes is especially great in this realm. If it has an upcoming expiration date, it's fresh without preservatives. Yes, please!
But thankfully, you can get food quickly and conveniently without succumbing to a McDonald's or Carl's Junior or Taco Bell or insert any of the 100 different fast food chains that make up America's tens of thousands of restaurants. And hey, many of these fast food places are also healthier, so I'll talk about those too.
Before you tell me Whole Foods is too expensive, just go to one with a deli. You can have them make a sandwich for the same price and speed as Subway. Really, it's true.
