My best friend's daughter Taylor is really into cars. This is probably because my BF insisted on non-gender-conforming toys for her and she took a liking to Matchbox cars and model airplanes.
So she's turning 7 and I thought a plastic model car kit would be an awesome gift because surely she's old enough to build one now, right? The thing is, this is not my realm and I don't even know where to buy these things. Michael's doesn't really have any, at least the one in my city. What's the best brand and car style?
This is just ugly
This is... okay, I guess
“They're either ugly or entirely out of production.”
When I turned 13-years-old, my father said it was time to learn the family tradition: building a ship in a bottle. My dad’s bookshelf was filled with them, the oldest was built by his great grandfather!
My cousin Brad loved trains. My cousin Brad was also one of those scary genius kids that learned to read before he learned to use the toilet. Brad had a big train set that he loved more than anything, and my aunt had it out for me.
Model building kits are a great way for kids to connect with someone they love and trust. When it's a parent, it's a really healthy way to build communication skills between the two. Life gets really hectic when you're a parent, so what better way to learn new things about your kid!
