During college, as a young woman it was suggested to me that I take a martial arts class in order to protect myself down dark alleys going home. While I thought I would be fine by myself, I went.
Taking the classes turned out to be extremely fun, and actually helped me battle major depression. I had a hard time becoming a part of group activities due to my chemical imbalance, so when I attended the first class, I thought this would be a one time thing. Thankfully, I was wrong.
I had such a great time the first time that I decided to enroll in a month long class, designed to invigorate the body. Being so physically active was amazing; the support much needed.
Since taking the first classes, I continued on with these special training programs. The benefits I have felt from taekwondo have been tremendous. I love every second of the classes.
