I never thought yoga classes would be for me, but they are!

I recently joined the local gym, Anytime Fitness, and have started going to the yoga classes. I've never been too into fitness, just walks or hiking outdoors, but that's about it.
Morty's heart attack was a real wake up call to live healthier. I still have a lot of life left in me and a lot of joy to be had with my grandbabies, so I need to get myself in shape. I walk on the treadmill there and have even had a little free personal training session where a nice young man showed me some good exercises.
I tried the Zumba class, which was fun, I'll definitely do that one again! So far, though, I've enjoyed the yoga classes the most. I find I am overly anxious so the stretching is nice.
Yoga is really about focusing on breathing, which I didn't know. I thought it was all about getting yourself into some weird, bendy pose. I was always too scared to try it!
The teacher was really sweet, too. I told her I was nervous and that it was my first time, so she made sure to give me a little extra attention. She was so kind to do that. She helped me adjust my poses and encouraged me to keep going when she saw I was getting frustrated. The whole experience was calming.
I'm looking forward to going again. I didn't go today because I had too many things to get done around the house. I did buy a yoga DVD, though. I thought maybe I could practice!
