When I graduated college, I took a gap year to travel a bit overseas in Europe. It was the best decision I could have made for myself. I was exhausted from studying so much & writing my thesis that I needed to breathe.
I was warned that people don't really come back after a gap year; that they lose all their steam from gearing up for adult life during college and then they end up lazy. I think that's a definite ill-conceived notion. I was able to become much more cultured during my travels and when I returned I was ready to start my adult life in the real world.
