I Took My Son To The New York Transit Museum, Just Like My Father Took Me

A week before my Son's 5th birthday my Wife and I asked him how he wanted to celebrate. Being infatuated with trains, he told us he wanted to go for a ride on one. This sparked an idea.
I knew exactly where to take him. When I was his age, my father took my sister and me to the New York Transit Museum in Brooklyn. This was back when the museum was brand new. I haven't been back there since the 1980's. As the days grew close I became more excited to go back and start a new tradition with my son.
Each night before bed, I told my son a different story of my visits to the museum, remembering the times I shared with my dad. I began wondering if it was as prodigious as I remembered.
I began worrying that I had talked up the museum so much, that it wouldn't be as good as I had promised. But once we got there my Son and I were both in awe. The museum was amazing!
It had changed a lot since I'd been there last, but it was just as astounding as I remembered. I was impressed by their collection of new and rare trains. Since there was a lot to do for both kids and adults we spent the entire day at the museum. My son was ecstatic when a man dressed as a conductor gave him a birthday pin.
I was so elate I was able to share the experience with my son. At the end of the day I bought him a vintage conductions cap, which looked identical to one I had when I was his age.
