I've heard stories about how grueling farming can be - 12 hour days that start at sunrise. And you're always at the mercy of the market or the weather. But say I wanted a self-sustaining farm for my family.
With maybe a handful of extra crops to sell at Farmers Markets. I mean, is it the same deal? Can one live a relatively peaceful life with minor vegetable crops, a horse, a pig, a few chickens and maybe some goats and some fruit trees? I want to know more about this, because that sounds like an idyllic retirement.
