I Went Hunting For Buried Treasures Of Australian Coins - Can You Dig It?

Somewhere I read that - I think on Lonely Planet - that Australia has the most buried treasure of any continent. I had an upcoming trip to Gold Coast of all places, so I decided I'd dig.
I did a lot of Internet research trying to figure out where I should do my hunting. You want to look for seriously old details about the areas you're visiting, and in particular, you're looking for undeveloped places that USED to have people residing there or at least nearby.
I found a town known for its gold deposits called Cracow, about a 6-hour drive from Gold Coast. I rented a car and drove there. I wanted to see if I could check out the Gold Mine.
When I arrived, I wanted to hit the local library to see what I could find on the history of this tiny place. They don't have a library.
This little town only has about 150 people living in it, seriously! It's just a mining town and the mine doesn't operate anymore. Now it's a Ghost Town too, literally. There are abandoned buildings everywhere. The hotel was kind of run down and sketchy so I didn't stay long.
I did some panning but unfortunately found nothing. I also wandered around the ghost town looking for someplace to dig. All in all, it was a dead end. Next time I'll try California.
