It Is So Easy And Uber Fun To Paper Mache Your Own Pinata

Thanks to my mom, I know how to make my own pinata and I also know how incredibly fun it is to take that pinata to holiday gatherings and parties. We do one for Christmas every year.
2. I usually put plastic or towels on the floor because this stuff drips everywhere. The kids and I drip the newspaper strips in paste and stick them onto the balloon. Get a nice full layer by laying the strips any way you want. BUT make sure to leave an opening at the top where the balloon is tied. Then let it dry for a day.
My kids adore making these. Here are the steps: 1. We blow up a big ol' balloon and hang it upside down. Get some newspaper strips, like lots and lots of them. Then mix together some flour and water in a bowl - we use one part flour to two parts water. This is your paper mache paste. Get ready to get messy!
3. Put another paper mache layer on your pinata and then another if you want a really durable one. Then you decorate! Use colored tissue paper, crepe paper, whatever you want.
4. Then pop the balloon and remove through the top. Cut a trap door and fill that puppy with treats.
