One of my fondest memories as a kid was building a dollhouse from a model kit. My grandpa built me on at first and then I tried my own hand at doing it. It's hard but it was worth it.
Once I was done, I had so much fun finding miniatures to decorate it. And now that I'm older, I recently built another one with some serious detail. I actually have Bonsai plants in it, along with some completely beautiful decor. I like to pretend it's my dreamhouse but way cheaper, haha.

Honestly, this one is so gray and cumbersome I can't see most kids being excited to have it, much less build it. The size and little plaque under it give me the impression this is most certainly more for adults than for kids. I don't see myself buying this for a niece or nephew.
My grandson has become interested in scale modeling, so for his twelfth birthday I would like to get him some materials and books so he can educate himself. Does anyone have good recommendations for modeling sets and modeling books?
I still look up model ship kits to build even though it's been years since my Grandfather passed away and even longer since we had built one together. It seems like nothing has really changed in that department.
Model cars are all the rage. They're sleek and easy to store. Most people associate model trucks with small children. This is simply not fair. It takes a real man and model connoisseur to appreciate good model trucks.
