Kite Making Is Nothing Like Model Rocket Making. I Was Lied To.

I love building and launching model rockets. I've been doing it since way back in middle school. The only downside so to speak, is that a rocket's flight isn't a particularly long one. It blasts up, then comes down.
I was recommended kites as a longer air-time alternative, and it looked worth a shot. I got the supplies to make my own kite and my troubles began immediately. Building a kite is nothing like building a rocket. I feel like an idiot, as I have all of this kite building material but absolutely no desire to continue building a kite. I'll stick to rockets.
At least the parts weren't expensive.

You have to run to fly a kite. You can launch a rocket by pushing a button.

This just isn't in the cards for me.
