This is the first year that the Vegas Golden Knights is in existence, so, obviously, it's the first time the team is in the Stanley Cup finals. It was a huge long shot that the team would even
excel to the playoffs, let alone the Stanley Cup, so when Nick Bogdanovich, director of trading, gave the Golden Knights 250 to 1 odds he thought he'd be in the clear with the new team. How wrong he was! He's come forward saying that he should have given the team a "2500 to 1". He was basing his original odds on every expert
placing the brand new Vegas team in dead last. This gross misjudgment of odds could cost Las Vegas millions of dollars of revenue when they go to pay out the bettors of the Stanley Cup.
William Hill the Home of Betting, where Bogdanovich is the director, stands to lose close to $2 million, while the city of Las Vegas itself could lose anywhere from $5-$7 million.
