During my time as a history major in college, I learned about many different topics, but my favorite by far was on Ancient African/Middle Eastern civilizations. I was interested in the Meroitic alphabet especially.
I developed this interest after learning about the Kushite language, and how even though they have been able to decipher the Meroitic alphabet, they haven't been able to translate the language yet. This is very fascinating. Also, the alphabet derives from the Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, which I always loved reading about and studying growing up.
The cities that spoke this language now are long gone in history
Learning about different ancient languages is a gateway into the past
“I developed this interest after learning of Kushite language”
The paper that the alphabet was written on is very similar to this
The architecture was also very ornate in ancient times for royalty
I have always wanted to travel to Egypt and study hieroglyphics
Stone pillars were a big part of the overall structures back then
