I still look up model ship kits to build even though it's been years since my Grandfather passed away and even longer since we had built one together. It seems like nothing has really changed in that department.
Well, except price. These kits are crazy expensive. I'm sure it's all relative with inflation and such, but wow. Prices range from $150-over $600! That's insane. You need to be real serious about this hobby if you do it. Life isn't cheap, so I just can't imagine how people have that kind of money to through away on a hobby like that.
This one costs $600!

I remember watching my older brother build model cars when we were little. He'd let me help... sometimes. The pieces are so tiny and intricate, I never had the patience to do it, but I wanted to do whatever he did.
Model building kits are a great way for kids to connect with someone they love and trust. When it's a parent, it's a really healthy way to build communication skills between the two. Life gets really hectic when you're a parent, so what better way to learn new things about your kid!
The classic ship in a bottle is an example of what are known as "impossible bottles". Any impossible bottle is one that has objects inside of it that clearly wouldn't normally fit through the bottle neck.
