Did you know Florida gets more thunderstorms than any other state? It has to do with the humidity and the western fronts that collide with Atlantic winds. It creates turbulent air.
So there are at least a couple of storms each day, almost everywhere in Florida. I usually go to Miami and it's so cool to watch the storm fronts come up over the Art Deco skyline. I've also been to the Keys and the storms there are just as awesome. Sometimes they're even a little scary but that's the fun part.
Florida gets some gnarly tropical storms and hurricanes too, and I've been there for one of those. It's not quite as fun because the winds can be terrifying and you cannot go anywhere. Not even like a foot outside your house. I'm just talking about those brief intense storm fronts where you see dark clouds rolling in.
Heat lightning dances through the clouds and an occasional flash of lightning pierces the ground. The rumbling thunder and the cracks that make you jump in the air.
I love the smell of cool rain hitting the humid pavement. If they bottled it as a perfume, I'd probably buy it.

I kinda love traveling with a companion. It makes the experiences more meaningful when I can share them with someone. And most travel friends appreciate some alone time too, so I get the best of both worlds.
