When I was thirteen years old, I heard the story of my grandmother's involvement in Operation Market Garden for the first time. I didn't realize at the time how inspirational it would be to me for the rest of my life.
During Operation Market Garden in Netherlands, my grandmother was one of the Allies nurses on duty and helped many soldiers from dying on the battlefield. Hearing about my grandmother's heroism growing up inspired me to become a nurse myself! It was truly a gift to learn about this important part of World War II and how women were a key part.
