My yummy basil pesto!

My homemade basil pesto recipe for everyone!

Yum yum yum!

Basil pesto

My family loves my homemade pesto. They've asked me to share the recipe with them for a long time, and with the internet now, they don't really need my recipe, per say, anymore. It's all very simple. You need a food processor, though. The list of ingredients is fairly short, as well.
Basil leaves

Basil leaves

You will need 2 cups of fresh basil leaves packed tightly, 1/2 cup of freshly grated Romano cheese, 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil, 1/3 cup pine nuts, 3 minced garlic cloves, and salt/pepper to taste.

Pine nuts

Put the pine nuts and fresh basil into the food processor and pulse it several times. It doesn't need to look perfect, they just need to get chopped up a bit.

Then you want to add the best ingredients (in my opinion)-- the Romano cheese and minced garlic cloves. Make sure to pulse the food processor several more times to get a more chopped consistency and to make sure it is all blended in together. Go ahead and scrape the sides of the food processor to make sure you get every last bit into the mixture.
Extra virgin olive oil

Olive oil

The next step is to pour in the extra virgin olive oil. This can sometimes seem tricky, because you'll need to add it very slowly and while the food processor is on.
Get a good food processor!

Food processor

Make sure to run the food processor while you add the olive oil. Adding it slowly makes sure the olive oil doesn't separate, plus it helps to emulsify it.
Pesto pasta, yum!

Lastly, add salt and pepper to your liking and then eat! Oh goodness, it's great on breads and pastas. Enjoy and let me know what you think!
