My son just started little league baseball this year & he was so nervous about it. He's 8 & a little shy. He was scared about how he would play & if the other kids on the team would make fun of him if he wasn't any good.
Our family is so lucky that the team he ended up on, all the kids were so nice to him! The coach was very kind and gentle and each kid took turns making him feel comfortable on the field. He's made instant friends and it's given him the confidence to come out of his shell at school and at home. He's blossoming all because of Little League!
I played basketball in grade school. I was the point guard, I think? Honestly, I have no idea which position it was. I was already tall (I'm 5'8") so I was the girl who tipped the ball at the start of the game.
When I was a kid, my Grandpa would take me golfing with him. He'd get me out of the chaos of my house and my Grandma would take my sister and they would go to the movies. Sometimes, we'd all do an activity together.
I also love the sport of archery. I started when I was in grade school. It was a random sport that they had us all try out in the fifth grade. Now that I think of it, maybe that's a little young to play with real bows and arrows?
I was recently in Spain, where soccer is HUGE, and everyone was wearing soccer jerseys all the time. It was like their version of a T-shirt and jeans. I may have bought a few authentic jerseys to bring home with me.
