Before we go camping again, I really need to pick up a new camping backpack. Mine got absolutely destroyed during a camping trip last autumn. It was my wife and daughter and I at a camp site in Yosemite Park for a week.
We've camped there every year for the longest time. It's one of my favorite places to escape to. There's so much to do and see that it never really gets old. We each have a camping backpack so that we can pack as much in our bags as possible. We like to travel light, but supplies and food always take up the brunt of the space in our bags.
We've taken to using a small, kid-sized Radio Flyer wagon to transport what else we need to bring to our campsite, like the tent, equipment, etc. On our last trip it rained a lot.
My backpack was well on the "older" side but I thought it would hold up just fine. It was my "old trusty" bag that I'd had for maybe fifteen years at that point. My wife hated it because she thought it smelled. It probably did, I just didn't smell it anymore. When we'd been at our site for a few days and the rain came pouring down, we weren't prepared.
Several items started to wash away, but we were able to grab all of them except one-- my old trusty camping backpack. I didn't see her float away until she was off in the distance.
When I found her, she had been torn up quite a bit by the brush and sticks in the areas she had drifted through. It was a sad day, but I suppose it was time. On to bigger and better backpacks!

My old trusty was this color of blue.
My old trusty camping backpack was this color of blue, too.
One of our camp sites.
Always be prepared when you're camping!
What a mess!
This wasn't us, but it's what it felt like!
