1804 Silver dollar coin

My son is looking into foreign coin values as he starts his collection.

My nine year old son is really into coin collecting. His grandfather (paternal side) got him into it the last time they visited from the East Coast. They both really bonded during that visit.
Coin collecting is not a hobby of mine, so I'm trying to be as engaged as I can. Mason, my nine year old, is looking into foreign coin values-- this kid is just super smart. Not that all of my kids aren't smart, they are! Jim, my father-in-law, gave Mason a few coins to start his collection with & some of them are foreign coins.
One of them is an 1804 silver dollar, which is apparently very rare and worth a lot. This seems like a very lucrative hobby, so it's interesting watch Mason get very invested with it.
This could be his college tuition right here! Ha! Or, you know, he could have a down payment on a house someday. The important part is to keep the coins in pristine condition and safe.
Foreign coin prices, and coin prices in general, do fluctuate depending on the relevancy, rarity, and market for the coin. Plus, you need to be on the look out for forgeries, so it's important to really hone in those investigative skills when looking for new coins to add to a collection. Look at all the stuff I'm learning!
I'm really glad that Mason and Jim will continue to have something to bond over. Jim isn't in to sports, and Mason is, so I was worried about them getting along as Mason got older.
