I was floored when my son told me he wanted to go to Nebraska for a summer to do grain farming. He would get paid, of course, but it's not something you'd typically hear from a city-dwelling high-schooler.
He went to an oat farm in Nebraska and spent 3 months sowing oats. We got a lot of fresh oats out of the deal, haha. And he decided he wants to study Agriculture in college. He's always marched to his own beat, but I never pegged him for an ag kind of kid. But I guess country living is more his speed.
“Country living is more appealing to my city-dwelling son.”
