My boys just started learning about Germany in school. This school of theirs teaches them about the good, the bad and the ugly. Right now they are focusing on the fun part.
The boys started working on making paper mache Pickelhaube hats. I thought it was a little bizarre, but we made them at home for them to wear at school. Whoever had the best Pickelhaube would win a real Pickelhaube from a German firefighter. Now, I have twin boys I hope their teacher has two hats. Finger's crossed.
The twins completed their project successfully. Or shall I say we all completed the project successfully. As a result of our success the boys won the Pickelhaube contest and had to split the hat. I thought it was going to be a problem, but my sweet boys brought the hat home and gave it to me. They like their hats better.
I thought it was the sweetest gesture. We all had hats and had a blast playing around as firemen in our backyard. It was one of the coolest projects they had all year.
After our fun session of playing firefighters we put the real Pickelhaube in a display case for our friends and family.
“It was one of the coolest projects they had all year.”
