Garbanzo beans are uber healthy and mega delicious if you prepare them the right way. Basically, make sure you rinse all the junk off them, whether they're in a can cooked or dried.
After you rinse, if they're fully cooked, bring them to a full boil or soak them for a few minutes in boiling water. Supposedly doing this gets rid of the some the sugars that cause that gas beans are so famous for. Anyway, after this, if you got them from a can, they're ready to go.
My favorite ways to use canned chickpeas are for hummus or a nice chopped salad - actually I like them for any salad. I also like using them in Indian food and roasting them in the oven for a quick snack. Or roast them in the oven with other vegetables for a side dish. So why do I like them so much?
They are a superfood. Tons of protein, lots of fiber and minerals, like manganese and folate and potassium. And they're versatile - they're nutty and mild so they go with many foods.
