The obsession with calories is so ingrained with women now. It's slammed in our faces by the media that skinny & thin are the only things women are worth. As a man, I think this sucks.
I can't really speak on my experience with calories, because it's not the same, and I don't care about them. I have a high metabolism, which I know is frustrating for my female friends who work so hard to get slim. I think the media is starting to show images of people who are stick thin, which is great!
I hate seeing my female friends agonize over the stupidest thing. Like, how many calories are in wine. In wine?? Just have the drink! Enjoy it, don't obsess over it, and it'll be okay. I feel bad for women. To be told that your worth lies in how much you weigh seems exhausting and I'm not sure what I can do about it.
I try to be reassuring to my female friends, my sister, and my girl friend (when I have one), but it is hard. It's so innate in my friends now and that sucks.
Calories in wine shouldn't count. Calories in any alcohol shouldn't count, for that matter. Drink up and enjoy!
At the gym, burning off calories
Gather with friends.
Stop dying to be thin.
Have a glass

An ex-girlfriend of mine was super into Pinot Grigio. She would never drink red wine (I like Cabs); she wouldn't even try it! She was stuck on Pinot Grigio. She said it was what her Mom introduced her to.
I loved traveling to Northern California every summer to see my grandparents. They owned a small vineyard up there in Napa Valley, so it was always really fun to see how the wine was made and stored. I loved playing in the vines, too.
