When I visited Lyon, France, with my family, we thought at first we would take taxis everywhere. Turns out they're very expensive in Europe, so we decided to try our luck with the Lyon Metro. It was actually easy!
Amateur travelers are usually afraid to use public transportation when they visit a country they aren't familiar with, or speak the native language. This was definitely us, but we were pleasantly surprised that the maps were easy to read, even in French, and the train personnel were super nice and easy to talk to in English. Overall: amazing experience!
Grabbing the rail to keep steady when there isn't a seat is normal
The metro is a safe and fun alternative to taxis when traveling

Life passes by quickly, so take a moment to look around when traveling!
The entrances and exits lead you right into the city!
The Metro signs are easy to find usually in big cities
It can be daunting at first, but using the Metro is a great way to explore!
