Remember that guy who stole a bucket of gold coins (or flakes? I don't remember) off an armored truck in New York City? It was worth 1.6 million dollars or something crazy like that.
Every time the value of gold comes up, I think about this guy. So many questions, like how did he carry something that heavy and once he got it home, how would he unload the gold for cash? Presumably everywhere that offers 'cash for gold!' would be aware that this guy is out there with stolen gold.
I like to think about what I would do if I managed to pull off a caper like that. Assuming I'd be able to get that back to my house, I thought I'd clear out my accounts, pack my stuff and head straight for the Caribbean. BUT I realized that to do that I'd need to get on a plane. So I'd pack my stuff and hop in the car.
I'd hide the bucket of gold and cruise right over the border into Mexico, where I would start slowly selling my gold as I drove to the Yucatan Peninsula, on the Caribbean side.
Then, I would either stay there and find a place or head over to Turks and Caicos or Anguilla and retire forever.

How did he carry this bucket?
“Smaug The Dragon is the ultimate gold thief though.”
