Unforgettable Iconic Films Of The 21st Century

Mulholland Drive

Mulholland Drive

This David Lynch film is a brilliantly edited and crafted mystery story about a jilted lover and a romance gone bad. The incredible attention to detail in the screenplay makes this a must-watch for me. Everything in the first 2/3 correlates to something in the last 1/3 of the film.
Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road

I love how this film just plops you into a fictional dystopia without telling you much of anything. From there, it's a chair-gripping, nail-biting wild ride. Even though George Miller kind of objectifies Immortan Joe's concubine of women, Furiosa is just awesome.
Pan's Labyrinth

Pan's Labyrinth

Guillermo Del Toro's genius and heart-wrenching fantasy drama about a complex child forced to deal with adult issues. So much imagination in one screenplay/
Boy, do these 2 have tension

In the Mood for Love

Nobody captures a mood quite like Wong Kar-Wai and this amazing film holds so much emotion and tension between the 2 leads. You can feel how much they want to be with each other, as well as experience the sadness they feel from their broken marriages. There's passion without passionate love-making.
The White Ribbon

White Ribbon

A disturbing, somber and beautifully shot film about the roots of evil and corporal punishment. You never knew black and white could be this gorgeous.
The Social Network

Social Network

The Social Network makes arbitration riveting. The storytelling here is so well done, presenting several sides but never taking one.
Moonlight

Moonlight

A heartbreaking coming-of-age story and romance with the most wonderful ending. Barry Jenkins paces the story perfectly in 3 poignant parts.
