I've gotten my little four year old involved in making our backyard wild bird friendly. We're trying to attract more colorful birds, so it all depends on the kind of food we're putting out in the back yard.
Not all wild birds like the same foods. We'd love to see some Bluebirds and Cardinals around, so we've taken to getting some tray feeders with fruit on them and suspending them from a tree just enough so that squirrels (hopefully) won't get to them. I also just got a hanging nectar feeder so that we can attract more hummingbirds! We can't wait to see!
A beautiful, tiny Hummingbird.
Would love to see some Cardinals in our backyard!

Orioles aren't native on the West coast, but it'd be great to have them!
A little Chickadee would be fun to see!

Woodpeckers are awesome, but they come with a lot of noise.
