I studied classic lit in college for 2 semesters before I changed my major into something that would give me a living where I wasn't a teacher or professor.
(Sorry in advance to all teachers and professors for that one, but it's just not my thing). Anyway, I've never lost my love of classic literature and I still try to read at least one classic lit book every few months. There are so many amazing books out there that you can literally spend the rest of your life reading them.
You won't run out (Unless you only read and do nothing else). Anyway, I've put some of my favorites below. I've always loved George Orwell, and Tony Morrison. Crime and Punishment's always been a fave for me, as well as Brave New World and Moby Dick. Oh, and anything Hemingway.
Also, I really love F. Scot Fitzgerald, even though he only writes about rich white dudes. And Jane Eyre. Pride and Prejudice. Ah, there are so many good ones.
And always take a re-read if you read something and it doesn't hit. In a few years, it could resonate with you.
The last of the Mohicans!
Native Son is a fave
A stack of my faves (minus R&J)
Love all of these
Only read City on Fire here
“If you don't like it, try reading it again in a few years.”
