There are three ferromagnetic elements on the periodic table: iron, cobalt, and nickel. These magical metals have been befuddling mankind since antiquity. In ancient India, they were used as surgical tools. In ancient China, they were used to create compasses. In the ancient 1990s, they were used to accidentally destroy the desktop computer. Oops. Today, magnets are widely used across many disciplines. Medical tools and compasses remain some of the most popular magnet-based technologies/tools. There have been multiple toys featuring magnets, many of which are removed from store shelves after too many kids eat the magnets. Please do not eat the magnets.
