Some people insist on listening to their music on vinyl. Other people argue that 8-track tapes are the true peak listening experience, but even then, the cassette tape folks would beg to differ. For the true classic sound aficionado, nothing will come close to the original commercial method of recording sound: the phonograph cylinder. Made of hard wax that can be easily damaged, phonograph cylinders are the ultimate collectors items. The cylinders were notorious for wearing out after about a dozen uses, but it was possible to make entirely new recordings on them if they were completely smoothed out.
