At the dawn of the new millennium, mankind was ready for the next step in the evolution of human civilization. Books and movies spoke of a bright future, with robot butlers and flying cars that could fold into a briefcases. The Segway HT was touted as the "next big thing" and would revolutionize transportation. Hype levels couldn't be higher, with people excitedly speculating about the device's possibilities. Today, Segway scooters are best known for being the preferred method of transportation for mall cops and dorky European police officers. The exorbitant nature of the Segway proved to be its downfall, with the general public losing interest once it was clear they could never afford one.
