History, Monarchy, England
Some people reminisce about growing up in the 60s. Multiple TV shows have been taking place in the 80s, and lately, a lot of media and marketing has been aimed at people who grew up in the 90s. Those are all fine decades, but they have nothing on the Elizabethan era, which lasted from 1558 to 1603. The English Renaissance hit its stride during this time, boasting new ideas, inventions, and famous figures. One such figure is the bard himself, William Shakespeare. This was also around the time when England realized how lucrative colonizing other peoples' land could be, and for most of the era the sun didn't set on the British Empire.
