"You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder!" - Mickey
The first Rocky movie premiered today in 1976. It went on to be the highest grossing movie that year at 225 million, made all the more impressive by its low budget of just over a million dollars. The film is full of memorable scenes, most famous of which is the training montage. Even today, the Philadelphia Museum of Art is an iconic landmark, thanks to its even more iconic stairs which have been informally dubbed the "Rocky Steps". Rocky is a movie that truly embraces the journey, and not the destination. People often forget (spoilers ahead) that in the end, Rocky doesn't win the big fight. Rocky's personal journey and eventual love confession were the real prize.
