"To the moon and back" - LIFE Magazine 1969 Special Edition
LIFE was, and in some ways still is, one of the United States' most famous publications. The magazine itself went through various owners and styles over the years, starting as a general interest/humor magazine, and eventually being re-branded in the 1930's as a weekly news magazine. LIFE was lauded for its high quality photographs, the entire library now being cataloged and archived by Google. Many of these photographs were never published in the magazine itself, and are invaluable photos from a time before every person had a digital camera in their pocket in the form of a smartphone. Today, LIFE is remembered fondly, and the occasional issue is put out to commemorate important events.
