"For though a mortal made of clay, Angels must love Anne Hathaway" - William Shakespeare
Today is a very special anniversary. No, not yours, don't worry. Today in 1582 famed playwright William Shakespeare married his mysterious wife Anne Hathaway. Little is known about this woman, and though much is speculated about her, most of the concrete facts come from town records and what few instances of Shakespeare's writing mentioned her. Most notably, Hathaway is mentioned in Shakespeare's will wherein she is bequest his "second-best bed with the furniture". There is evidence that suggests this marriage was not a particularly happy one, one such instance being the time of the wedding, suggesting it was a "shotgun wedding" of sorts.
