"The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid." - Jane Austen
December 16th marks a very special birthday, one of author Jane Austen. Born in 1775, Austen would be 243 years old if she were around today. Jane Austen is best known for her written works, authoring such titles as "Pride and Prejudice", "Sense and Sensibility", and "Mansfield Park". Her ability to weave irony, humor, and social commentary into her stories has kept them in publication, and have inspired multiple feature films based on her novels. Austen experienced little of her fame during her lifetime, likely due to the fact that her works were published anonymously. Over 50 years after her death, a memoir of her life and career was published by her nephew, and was well received.
