“Dream as if you will live forever, live as if you will die today.” - James Dean
James Dean would have turned 88 today — and while he only has three film credits to his name, the legendary actor made a huge impact on American culture, as evidenced by wannabe leading men trying to replicate his signature look and machismo ever since. After starring in Elia Kazan’s adaptation of John Steinbeck’s classic novel “East of Eden” in 1955, it was Dean’s portrayal that same year of angsty teen Jim Stark in “Rebel Without A Cause” that propelled him to superstardom. Tragically, a car accident would take Dean’s life at the age of 24 in September 1955. Dean’s final film credit would see him starring with Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson in “Giant”, released a year after his death.
