“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favor.” — Elon Musk, Founder of PayPal, Tesla Motors & SpaceX
Happy Birthday to Elon Musk! Following in the footsteps of other tech entrepreneurs like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs, Musk dropped out of college to start his first company, founding the online city guide Zip2 with his younger brother Kimbal. Using the money he raised from Zip2’s acquisition, Musk created the company that would later be known as PayPal in 1999. The online payment service earned Musk his first billion, and his new goal of producing affordable electric vehicles for the masses led to the creation of Tesla Motors, which recently surpassed General Motors as the most valuable American car maker. SpaceX, Musk’s aerospace transportation company, launched its most ambitious rocket yet this week, proving Musk’s endless innovations are not just earthbound.
