"I'd rather regret the risks that didn't work out than the chances I didn't take at all.” — Simone Biles, American Gymnast & Four-Time Olympic Gold Medal Winner
After pulling off two never-before-seen moves that no gymnast has ever even tried in competition before, 22-year-old American gymnast Simone Biles won the all-around title at the U.S. Gymnastics Championship this past weekend. The five-time Olympic medalist (4 gold, 1 bronze) became the first gymnast in history to land a double-twisting double somersault beam dismount, and after that history-making performance Biles outdid herself, becoming the first female to execute a triple-double — two flips and three twists — cleanly in competition, securing her position as the best all-around athlete in the competition and marking the sixth time out of the past seven years that Biles has taken home that title. In October, Biles will be leading Team USA in Germany for the World Championships and soon after that she will be training for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. Good luck to Simone Biles and Team USA!
