“Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life.” - Jack Kerouac, American Novelist & Author of “On The Road” (1957)
The United Nations World Tourism Organization has celebrated World Tourism Day since 1980, an international observance with the purpose of raising awareness of the worldwide socioeconomic impacts of global travel. World Tourism Day recognizes the communities living in these travel destinations and how the tourism industry impacts their growing economies. The tourism industry has rapidly grown over the past six decades, growing from 25 million international tourists in 1950 to nearly 1.3 billion today, accounting for nearly 10% of the world’s GDP. It’s not too late to treat yourself and start planning your perfect holiday trip now, whether it’s Aruba, Jamaica, Kokomo, or anywhere in between!
