“Life is too complicated not to be orderly.” — Martha Stewart, Founder of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia
In recognition of National Homemaker Day, PASH is honoring the undisputed queen of DIY — Martha Stewart. After reading famous French chef Julia Child's “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”, Stewart trained herself in the art of gourmet cuisine, eventually starting her own catering business in the late 1970s. Stewart’s creative menus and unique presentation earned her a rapidly growing clientele, and she eventually expanded her brand into the world of publishing, releasing bestselling cookbooks and decorative guides for weddings, holidays, and general housekeeping. In 1991, the first edition of “Martha Stewart Living” magazine hit newsstands, and its tremendous success would lead to Stewart starting her long-running daytime television program in 1993. Stewart became a billionaire in 1999 after her company’s initial public offering, and two decades later she is still America’s most famous homemaker.
