“Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” — Leonardo da Vinci, Renaissance Artist and Engineer, Painter of "The Last Supper" and "Mona Lisa”
The definition of a “Renaissance Man”, Leonardo da Vinci was a world-renowned engineer, painter, sculptor and architect, known for creating some of the world’s most admired (and parodied) works of art, including “The Last Supper” and “Mona Lisa”. A recent article in The New York Times written by art critic Jason Farago argued that The Louvre, the world’s largest art museum, should remove Leonard da Vinci’s 16th century masterpiece of Italian art, “Mona Lisa”. Farago argues that the painting is “a security hazard, an educational obstacle, and not even a satisfying bucket-list item” due to traffic caused by the eight million art enthusiasts that visit the portrait annually.
