“It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.” — Bill Gates, American Business Magnate, Philanthropist & Co-Founder of Microsoft
In honor of National Philanthropy Day, PASH is recognizing American business magnate Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft Corporation and co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the private charitable foundation that he and his wife established in 2000. The foundation works to reduce extreme poverty and improve global health by eliminating diseases like polio and malaria that continue to plague undeveloped countries. With an endowment exceeding $50 billion, the Bill & Melina Gates Foundation is the largest charitable foundation in the world by worth. In 2010, Gates and fellow billionaire Warren Buffet launched the Giving Pledge, asking fellow billionaires to commit to donating at least half of their wealth to charitable causes, though Buffett himself has promised that more than 99% of his wealth (which is than $100 billion as of November 2019) will go to philanthropic efforts during his lifetime.
